Golden Rooster 88: a 243-ways slot with a gold-symbol bet ladder

Golden Rooster 88 (listed on the old site as Golden Roaster) is built around the idea that your bet size decides which jackpots you can win. It is the most unusual panel in the ACE333 line-up and worth understanding before you press spin.
The game opens with an intro card showing three miniature slot cabinets, each crowned by an open red-and-blue treasure bowl spilling gold coins.
What's on the reels
The symbols are a red-combed rooster in a gold ring, silver ingots, a curl of firecrackers with a 福 tile, a gold coin with a square hole, a round green jade carving, and card symbols A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9. The title bar at the top reads GOLDEN ROOSTER 88 between two golden rooster medallions, with a treasure bowl in the middle.
A line above the game says "There are 243 ways to win", and "REEL WAYS" is written down the left edge. Instead of fixed lines, matching symbols on neighbouring reels pay from the left.
The capture above shows how a win is displayed: three 9s are boxed in blue, a small grid at the top marks the one way that paid, and the line reads "1 WAY" and "PAYS 0.50".
The gold-symbol ladder
On the left are five orange buttons. From the bottom: 1 GOLD SYMBOL (8 credits), 2 (18 credits), 3 (38 credits), 4 (68 credits) and 5 (88 credits). Above them an ACTIVE SYMBOLS box shows small icons and an "ALL UP" sign. Under the ladder a BET PER SPIN setting reads x0.10, and the TOTAL BET at the bottom shows 0.80, which is 8 credits at x0.10.
On the right, four bars labelled GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI each show a keyhole. At the 1-gold-symbol level all four look locked.
Other controls
A large gold spin button, a repeat button, an i (info) button, a settings cog, GAMBLE and a home icon sit on the right and bottom. BALANCE, TOTAL BET and WIN run along the bottom edge.
What we could not see

Questions from the field
What do the gold symbol buttons do?
They set your stake: 1 gold symbol costs 8 credits, 2 cost 18, 3 cost 38, 4 cost 68 and 5 cost 88, multiplied by the per-spin setting. The Active Symbols box shows which symbols count at that level.
Why are the jackpot bars locked?
In our screenshots all four bars show padlocks at the 1-gold-symbol level. The layout suggests higher levels open them up, but the game does not spell that out on these screens.
