88 Fortune: gold symbols, Active Symbol and GRAND to MINI jackpots
A red-and-gold prosperity slot that pays in any position instead of on lines. How the jade and gold pays differ and what the four jackpot boxes show.
88 Fortune is a prosperity slot in heavy red and gold, framed by carved pillars. It does not use paylines. The side panels read REEL WAYS, and the paytable says winning combinations pay left to right in any position. Above the reels sits a gold treasure pot, and four jackpot boxes are labelled GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI.
The paytable
The help page shows:
- Wild (a red and gold Fu tile): substitutes for all symbols and appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 only.
- Scatter (a bronze orb in a green frame): 5, 10 or 50 for three to five.
- Symbol pairs: each of the phoenix, junk ship, turtle and ingot symbols comes in a plain version (jade or silver) and a gold version. The plain ones pay 5, 10 and 50 for three to five. The gold ones pay much more: phoenix 100 to 1000, junk ship 50 to 500, turtle 40 to 400, gold ingot 25 to 250.
- Gold coin: 10, 20 and 100. Card letters A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9: 5, 10 and 50.
The page does not say whether figures are multiplied by line bet or total bet, and it says nothing about free games or how the jackpots are won.
The Active Symbol button
In the top right of the reel screen, a small ACTIVE SYMBOL bar shows five icons: coin, ingot, turtle, junk and phoenix. A matching ACTIVE SYMBOL button sits bottom left. Since the gold symbols pay so much more, the bar most likely shows which gold symbols your bet has switched on. The screenshots do not show what each step costs, so check that in the game before pressing it.
Bets
The hero shot has a LINE BET of 0.10 and a TOTAL BET of 5.00, so the total is fifty times the line bet. The jackpots read GRAND 6504.32, MAJOR 1600.00, MINOR 750.00 and MINI 150.00.
The second capture drops the line bet to 0.01, a 0.50 total. Three jade phoenixes stack on reel 1, and Fu wilds on reels 2 and 3 carry them along for a 0.15 win, less than the spin cost. The jackpot boxes read differently again: GRAND 6513.17, MAJOR 1100.00, MINOR 600.00 and MINI 130.00.

What does 'reel ways' mean?
There are no fixed lines. Matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left pay wherever they sit in each column, so the bet is set per 'line bet' and multiplied up to a total.
Why does each symbol have a jade and a gold version?
The paytable shows the gold version paying far more, for example 1000 against 50 for five phoenixes. The ACTIVE SYMBOL bar suggests you pay extra to switch gold symbols on, but the screens do not explain the cost.
