Sparta is a 30-line slot built around the soldiers of ancient Greece. The reels are dark, the card letters are chunky gold, and the picture symbols are the kit of a Spartan army: a round bronze shield with the Greek letter lambda, a short sword, a painted vase, a war galley and a catapult. The big feature is a warrior who can take over a whole reel.

In the hero screenshot the reels are still, with no win yet. Line markers numbered 1 to 30 run in two columns down each side.

The capture above shows the wild at work. A Spartan warrior in a crested helmet and red cape covers all three rows of the middle reel, and a win line runs through him from a letter A to a shield and on to a catapult. The WIN box reads 0.80 GP on a 0.30 GP spin.

The info screen sets out the rules:

  • Wild: "Expanding wild appears on reels 2, 3, 4", and substitutes for all symbols except the scatter.
  • Scatter: a line of Spartan soldiers under a golden sky. Five pay 200, four 25, three 5, two 2.
  • Free games: 15 free games with a x2 multiplier.
  • Symbols, five of a kind: war galley 4000, catapult 2000, vase 750, shield and sword 500, A and K 300, Q and J 200, 10 and 9 at 100.

Payouts are multiples of your bet. The screenshots show no return percentage, so we won't give one.

LINES is 30 and PLAY is 0.01 GP per line, so each spin costs 0.30 GP. With twice the lines of a 15-line game, the same line bet costs twice as much. The bar also shows WIN and a SPIN button you can hold for auto spin. Across the top, the MAJOR, RANDOM and MINOR boxes change between captures; the screens don't say how they pay out.

What does the expanding wild do?

The paytable says the wild appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 and expands. In our captures the warrior fills an entire reel from top to bottom, standing in for every symbol on that reel except the scatter.

What is the return to player of Sparta?

The old page quoted a figure, but nothing on the screens shows one, so we are not repeating it.
