Mega888 Blackjack: what the felt says and how a hand plays
A one-player Blackjack table with the key rules printed on the felt. The buttons you get, what insurance looks like, and how one hand plays out on screen.
Blackjack on Mega888 is a single-player table with no dealer on screen. The software deals, and the house rules you need are printed right on the felt, which is more than many app tables bother with.
The rules on the felt
The table reads "BLACKJACK PAYS 3 TO 2" under the title, then "Dealer must draw to 16 and stand on all 17s" in a curved line, then "PAYS 2 TO 1 • INSURANCE • PAYS 2 TO 1". Those three lines tell you the most important rules: a natural blackjack pays 1.5 times your stake, the dealer stands on soft 17, and insurance is offered.
The board in the top left sets the limits: MIN 0.5, MAX 1000. There are five betting circles, a card shoe on the left and a discard tray on the right. Chips along the bottom run 0.5, 1, 5, 10 and 50, with an arrow for bigger values, and the CURRENT BALANCE box sits in the lower left.
Your decisions
Once you place a chip and deal, four round red buttons appear: Surrender, Hit, Stand and Double. In the screenshot above the player has a 9 and a 3 (12) against a dealer jack, with a 0.5 chip in the first circle. An orange arrow marks which hand is being played. The balance reads 54.79.
Result and insurance
The last screenshot shows a finished hand. The player stands on a jack and a 9 (19). The dealer started with an ace, so an "Insurance: 0.25" strip is shown, half the 0.5 stake, as is standard. The dealer then draws a 2, a 10 and a 9 and busts on 22. "You win: 1" appears under the chip and again at the bottom, and a red New Game button starts the next hand.
Worth knowing
Standing on soft 17 and paying 3 to 2 are the player-friendlier versions of those rules. The screenshots do not show whether you can split pairs or how many decks are used, so check the help screen. Our guide to luck, maths and gambling myths covers why no betting pattern changes the house edge.

Questions from the field
Can I surrender a hand?
Yes. A Surrender button appears with Hit, Stand and Double when you act on your first two cards.
Is insurance worth taking?
It pays 2 to 1 when the dealer has blackjack, but that happens less than a third of the time when the dealer shows an ace, so basic strategy says no.
