Wild Gambler: paying extra to lock wilds in place

Wild Gambler is a safari slot with a twist that shows up in its name: you can pay extra to put wilds on the reels before you spin. Everything else about it is straightforward. Five reels, three rows, 20 lines, all inside a bamboo frame lashed with rope, in front of an orange savanna with acacia trees.

The symbols

The card letters and numbers are printed in animal patterns: leopard spots, tiger stripes and grey elephant skin. The picture symbols are a leopard, a zebra, a rhino and a pink flamingo, each in a small square. Line markers 1 to 20 run down both sides in wooden tags.

Lock & Spin

The first screenshot is the game's own explanation of its main feature. It says:

• Spin with wilds locked in place "for an increased chance to win".
• "Bet varies with wilds in view."
• "Click on symbols to add or remove wilds."

In other words, you tap positions on the reels to turn them into wilds, and the price of the next spin goes up. There are two stake boxes on the panel: one labelled STAKE next to the SPIN button, and one next to the LOCK & SPIN button. In the help screen the normal stake is RM0.20 and the Lock & Spin stake is RM0.70. In the other captures, with no wilds added, both read RM0.20.

The phrase "increased chance to win" is the game's, and it is true for that spin, but the higher stake is how the game pays for it. It is not a discount.

The panel

The controls are drawn as safari props. From the left: an AUTO-LOCK toggle (showing ON), a bull skull labelled PAYTABLE, a log labelled AUTO PLAYS, the WIN and TOTAL WIN boxes, a LINE STAKE of RM0.01 on a stone, and then the SPIN and LOCK & SPIN stones with their stake boxes above.

There is no lines button. All 20 lines are always active, so the normal stake is 20 times the line stake.

No free-spins round or paytable is shown. The old page described a free-spins feature; since we can't see it, we won't repeat the details.
